I have had long hair since I was a kid, except I kept it about in the middle of my waist and hip, but once I had turned 12 I decided to grow my hair out even more (that’s a complete lie, I was actually just too lazy to get my hair cut :P) and so 2 years later my hair is a couple of inches past my hip and I have learned a lot about having truly long hair. So now I am going to share my experience with the world, both the struggles and the awesomeness!
The first thing that I noticed was, that when you have really long hair and you are wearing it down it constantly gets in the way, but that is easily fixed with these 3 basic need to knows for long hair:
- How to make a bun with and without a hair bun tool. This is crucial! Whenever you need to do house work or something of that sort you want to have your hair completely tied up so they are up and out of the way.
- How to make a pony tail. This is a basic hair style that every girl should know, even if they don’t have long hair.
- How to make a basic 3 strand braid. This is the basic of basics braid, it takes 5 minutes and will help keep your hair from getting tangled during the day if it is windy or you are moving around a lot.
Talking about wind, when wearing medium or long length hair down wind can be either your best friend or your worst enemy. If the wind is blowing towards your face, your hair will look awesome flowing in the wind. But if it is blowing in any other direction, you will probably look like you have a rat’s nest on your head.
On a positive note, with long hair, any braid, hairstyle or updo is possible all that’s needed is a little bit of practice! Plus in the winter time, if it is long enough, long hair can be used as a scarf! (This is not a joke, I am 100% serious)
Long hair does need more care than short or medium length hair, but I actually enjoy it. Long hair also takes longer to brush, but again, that is something I myself enjoy.
Over all, I think that having long hair is awesome and unique. And if you want to have long hair but have trouble growing it out or get split ends then check out my Fermented Rice Water For Hair, it will help you grow out your hair and stop split ends.
